Originalit(é)y

Is there really original content? Does it exist?

I see so many copied things.
I see so many patterns.
I see the same information from multiple sites.

There are original studies. Pulling data and analyzying in their own way. Fascinating stuff. Makes me wish I did it myself.

Maybe that`s what makes us copy, emulate.

I`m not against replicating. It helps us develop skills. Discover skills we didn`t know we had. Sometimes we need to practice muscles that don`t get worked very much and then we surprise ourselves.

I am trying to consistently create every week. Even if it`s just an observation, a commentary on other things. I think we all have a voice, even in this era where everyone has something to say, especially now.

I look at hip-hop. Taking music that already existed and looping it, mixing it. Original but copied. It`s art. It`s beautiful.

Consistency is key.

Consistency is key.

Notre pays.

100 day Creative challenge, day 13/14

Alright, it has Been a Couple Days since my last creative challenge, Every day seems so Fast Gone by, Hours Instantly Just Keep being Little Moments Never Offering a Pause, time never Quits Reminding us that time waits for no one, Selah; Truth is, truth of the matter is, Understanding ourselves is Vital, Where are we going, X and Y – coordinates – home is our 0,0,0.

Home is church. Church is home. Church is a family. Church is us.

100 day Creative Challenge – week 2 – day 9

Consistency is key

As promised and announced in my post last week, I`m back with my second week of the 100 day creative challenge.

Friday the 13th … I`m not superstitious. Maybe when it comes to sports, but that`s anyone who plays sports.

Recap of the past 7 days :

  • Day 3 – I made some changes to the theme of this place. Added a photo
  • Day 4 – put a link to this blog on my instagram profile
  • Day 5 – learned about algorithms (on-going). The objective is to solve a Rubik`s cube
  • Day 6 – nothing produced
  • Day 7 – nothing produced
  • Day 8 – posted a video from the dry-run of set-up in preparation for our preview service at Lansdowne on Sunday. Two weeks before launch. My justification for it being #creative is because we are creating a welcoming atmosphere of community

The week goes by fast. Somehow … That`s why I made a commitment to post here a minimum of once a week.

Tomorrow, the Rideau Canal, the world`s largest skating rink, is officially opening for the 47th year! Note : It is not to be confused with the longest skating rink in the world.

Skating. Feeling that cold air on your cheeks and watching your breath as you exhale. The cold weather is worth it because you get exercise – produces endorphins -, fresh air is always beneficial unless it`s smoggy air, and once a year it`s good to get a beavertail and a hot chocolate. These are the things that build community. The things that memories are made of.

I remember the first time I skated on the Rideau Canal. Winterlude 1996. I think the weather was -30C. It was cold. Very cold. It was back when the Dow`s Lake Marina used to be open to warm up and eat Beavertails. Whatever happened to that?

This is the end of my post. It`s 2 minutes before midnight. Always at the last minute haha

Until next week, or before.

Take care.

100 day creative challenge

I personally think that everyone is creative, but it is expressed in different ways, just as every person is unique.

100 days is a 100ng time, but it’s relative.
100 days is long for someone waiting for a package in the post.
100 days is not long for a ninth grade student on their first day of high-school, thinking about graduation. ( Canada generally has 190 school days in the year,  starting in September (after Labour Day) to the end of June.) 190 x 4 = 760 days … school days, not including weekends. Yay! Weekends! #SundayFunday

Consistency is key.

My blogging history will simply show that in approximately 100 days, I have only blogged 4 times. I like to create original content : poignant, provocative, inspirational, and thought-provoking. Sometimes I think I have to do all those things at the same time, every time, all the time. Balance is important in everything. I am saying that diversity of content is what I’m going for, and that I don’t have to include everything all the time. I actually think of doing so much but the execution isn’t what I envisioned. The problem wasn’t the idea, but the plan. I need to set a plan, with objectives, and success markers.
In order to make a good varied creative challenge, I can’t try to do everything all the time.

Any good music artist knows that there is just as much power in the pauses as the notes.

Back to being consistent, I’m going to try to finish this blog without it spiraling out of control talking about other things … Planes have stabilizers so that they fly straight, and not spiral out of control.

For the next 100 days, I will be participating in a creative challenge called #TogetherWeCreate. I am in a team at my church, and we have been given the challenge of creating things for 100 days. Here are the modalities of the challenge :

” #TogetherWeCreate is a 100 day creative challenge we are doing together as a team. The purpose of this challenge is for 100 days (from now until Easter) we as a team will commit to taking time each day to explore creativity, to create, to dream, to mess up, to make beautiful things and ugly things,. We will commit ourselves to creativity and to stretch out our tent pegs so there is room for more creativity, more room for God to speak to us and through us and more room for us to impact people.

What we do :
1. Spend time each day creating something
2. Read a Psalm a day
3. Share what you make using the hashtag #togetherwecreate

Today is #Day2 , #Day1 was talking about how I have a clean sheet and the possibilities are endless, it was shared to my instagram and facebook. #Day2 is using a different medium, presenting what the creative challenge is, and setting goals :

  • Blog once every week
  • Use wordpress and develop the aesthetics of my blogspace
  • Make a youtube video
  • Write some music
  • Put lyrics to that music
  • Edit a video
  • Be consistent – Create every day

I look forward to re-reading this on day 50.
Every week, as our creative team meets, we will re-visit the highlights of the week. A great way to motivate and recognize what everyone has done.

See you next week, if not before … probably not before haha!

Take care

Procrastination… Perfectionisme

Wayne Gretzky is to have said “you miss all the shots you don’t take”

Sometimes I find it easier to think of doing something and how I can do it well and don’t end up following through. It’s from being to busy making a plan that the plan never gets tried.

2 months since my last post, yet feels like a few days ago. I’m a very “in the moment” person, but I’m planning on writing a new blog soon.

Prospective title : FTW

Cheers All. Life is great. Thanks for reading.
